Millsite State Park & Reservoir spans the edge of Ferron Canyon and serves as a local favorite for year-round fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and cooling off after a day in the desert. The reservoir is known for calm waters that sit beneath dramatic red rock cliffs and the recreation area has picnic areas, a sandy beach, and a boat ramp so it’s an easy place to spend the entire day.

Right next to Millsite Reservoir, this 18-hole course makes the most of its setting in Ferron’s red rock country. The fairways weave along sandstone cliffs and water features, creating a mix of challenge and great views from almost every hole. The course is open to the public and known for being well-kept, affordable, and welcoming to players of all levels. It’s an easy spot to spend a few relaxing hours before grabbing lunch in town or heading out to explore more of the area.

The San Rafael Swell begins right outside of Ferron, unlocking hundreds of miles of slot canyons, natural arches, and ancient rock art. It’s a desert playground where off-roaders, hikers, and photographers could spend months finding something new to explore each day. The Swell is home to famous landmarks like the Buckhorn Wash to The Wedge Overlook which is known as the “Little Grand Canyon” and it makes for the perfect day trip from Esquire Estates.

Head just a few miles up Ferron Canyon, and the red rock opens up into alpine forest. The Manti-La Sal National Forest offers cooler temps, mountain lakes, and plenty of shaded trails if you’re visiting in the warmer months. In summer, people love to come and fish in the many lakes and in winter, snow-dusted peaks welcome travelers for peaceful scenic drives and snowshoeing through the forest.

Ferron is one of the main gateways to the Arapeen OHV Trail System, a massive network connecting the towns and mountains of central Utah. Riders can follow marked trails that climb from sandstone valleys into pine forests and back again, taking in the surreal desert views along the way. With direct access from town, you can be on the trail within minutes.
